Half marathon in 1.17.12

Kusthalvmaran, good weather conditions and cheering family members made me do it ! Finished 2nd beating my old personal best time with over 2 minutes.

Mardrömmen - dirty running

Participated in a small local running race today called Mardrömmen (Nightmare), and even though it included "climbing" a ski slope 4 times, wading through up to 1 meter deep water and crossing a number of deep marshes (kärr) I enjoyed the 9km race very much. It was one of the funniest races I have tried so far. I managed to finish 3rd, which was also nice. Took 5 minutes of rubbing in the shower to get totally clean again, now I just need to wash my black shoes (which used to be white)...

Telenorgalan - athletics in Karlskrona

Sara, Andreas and I enjoyed great athletics at Västra Mark, Karlskrona.

Stefan Holm after one of the attempts on 2.32m, which he never managed to get over. We stood right behind his coach and father, the well known Jonny Holm with the strong dialekt (värmländska), and listned to his advice to his son. Quite an experience.

My endurance history

2005

Started semi-serious run training (4 sessions/week) for Göteborgsvarvet 2005 at the age of 25. Ran a 10k test on track before starting training end of 2004 in 45 minutes. 4 months later I was down to 36 minutes for the 10k and 1.21 at Göteborgsvarvet.

2006

Stockholm marathon in 2.56

2007

Heat collaps at Stockholm marathon (my only DNF so far)

2nd at Kusthalvmaran in 1.17.12

First spint triathlon at Ringö, Karlskrona. Breaststroke, mountainbike, but speedy run. Finished in 1.17. Hooked for life. Started swim and bike training.

Sörmlands Ultra Marathon 50k trail in 3.51.

Footsteps

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one beloning to him and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The Lord replied "My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffereing, when you see only one set of footprints in the sand, it was then that I carried you."

The echo of life

A man and his son were walking in the forest. Suddenly the boy trips and feeling a sharp pain he screams, “Ahhhhh.”Surprised, he hears a voice coming from the mountain, “Ahhhhh.”Filled with curiosity, he screams, “Who are you?” but the only answer he receives is: “Who are you?”This makes him angry, so he screams, “You are a coward!” and the voice answers, “You are a coward!”

He looks at his father asking, “Dad, what is going on?”“Son,” he replies, “pay attention!” Then he screams, “I admire you!”The voice answers, “I admire you!”The father shouts, “You are wonderful!” and the voice answers, “You are wonderful!”The boy is surprised, but still can’t understand what is going on.

Then the father explains, “People call this ‘ECHO’ but truly it is ‘LIFE!’ Life always gives you back what you give out! Life is a mirrorof your actions. If you want more love, give more love! If you want more kindness, give more kindness! If you want understanding and respect, give understanding and respect. If you want people to be patient and respectful to you, give patience and respect! This rule of nature applies to every aspect of our lives.”
